DeKalb County, Georgia, is one of the United States' top 100 most populous counties. The city of Atlanta is located in Fulton and DeKalb Counties.
Project overview
Kindred Technology Group assembled a team to redesign the county's main website, DeKalbCountyGA.gov. My role included creating a new site map as a brief concept for the county before we proceeded with the rest of the UX design work.
The county experienced a change in leadership and a full turnover of their project team shortly after. Their new team decided to bring the UX work in-house.
Had my work continued, it would have involved interviewing county residents and businesspeople, creating personas, updating the site map, and designing wireframes.

Because I do not have access to the original deliverable, I recreated this in November 2017 using a technique that I used in a recent NDA project for an IT consulting firm. I put over 100 cards into OptimalSort and created categories representing not only top-level menu items but also mega menu headers. For example, "About -> History" would be a mega menu for the About menu, with a section in it with "History" as its header.

My deliverables in this project were not used due to reasons beyond my control. However, the owner of the development agency I worked with was very grateful for my work. Some of the categories I created in my site map are in the live DeKalb County website's main menu as of November 2017.
